Paintings of Note
This one is one of my newest paintings and I am very proud of it. It recently won the prestigious "Enbridge Pipeline Award" at the Pine Ridge Arts Council Juried Art Show. I love the fresh quality of the painting and was excited that the initial few brushstrokes were so successful. That doesn't always happen! This is also one of my favorite color combinations with those warm darks and earth tones singing against the white of the canvas.
This painting is one of my favorites! It won an award in the 2013 OAA Juried Art Show and It contains a lot of things that I like to do in my abstract and non objective works. First notice the way that I have mixed the colors, with the resultant neutrals singing against the pure reds and yellows and the softer green of the background. I used different viscosities of fluid paint to vary the texture, and love the watercolor effect in the background provided by wet paint into a wet background.
